John Edelman is Chief Executive Officer of Design Within Reach. Edelman joined DWR in 2010, bringing more than 30 years of experience in consumer-focused lifestyle brands. Before joining the company, Edelman spent 14 years at Edelman Leather, the most recent six of which were spent as President & CEO. During this time, he dramatically grew company brand awareness, sales, and profits as the leading national provider of premium leather. He also secured its place as the single most powerful brand in this commoditized market by dividing it into four categories: Private Aviation, Hospitality, Corporate Interiors and Residential Interiors. Edelman was instrumental in leading the sale of his namesake to Knoll, Inc., in October 2007. Prior to this, Edelman spent seven years at the fashion shoe brand Sam & Libby, Inc., where he managed the company’s U.S. business. He started by overseeing Brazilian sourcing operations and then went on to develop and grow its private-label business.
